Over the school holidays there has been an enormous amount of activity at Northside Montessori School, including:
- The installation of insulation in The Cottage, Margaret's and Linda's rooms and Jane's and Edna's rooms (Northside pre-primary)
- The installation of window awnings for The Cottage, Jacaranda Building, Margaret's classroom and the Northside pre-primary classrooms, and
- The installation of energy efficient Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning in the Northside campus classrooms*.
To ensure we provide a healthy and effective learning environment (and to control our environmental footprint and manage costs) we will be operating the air-conditioning at a maximum of 20 degrees in winter and a minimum of 28 degrees in summer (as at the Stepping Stones campus) - a great improvement on conditions last summer and winter!
So our school will not be unnaturally warm or cool, but it will be comfortable as a place to learn and work. Please remind your children that while school will be even 'cooler' this year than last, they still need to dress lightly in summer and warmly in winter.
* We're still working out a solution for Margaret's classroom for term 1, until internal walls are built to hold the new air conditioning units. Fear not, we are committed to ensuring NS7 are cool and comfy too!
