Welcome to Northside Montessori School
We aim to provide you with all the information you need to decide if Northside Montessori School is the school for your child. Further information is included in our Information Pack and Enrolment Application Package.
Applications for enrolment can be made at any time, should be submitted as soon as possible and are required for all levels of entry into the school. In keeping with our philosophy and in recognition of the important preparatory focus of the 3-6 classroom, our normal intake is at 3 years of age. Applicants at other ages are not guaranteed placements even if the school has vacancies and will be considered by the Principal on a case by case basis. Transfers from interstate and overseas Montessori schools at all age levels will be favourably considered.
Enrolment Applications are processed as follows:
Open Mornings (Tours of the School)
The school regularly hosts Open Mornings for prospective parents. The tours comprise a presentation by the Principal followed by tours of our Montessori Toddler (18mths-3yrs) Community classroom, our Pre-primary (3-6yrs) classes and our Primary (6-12yrs) classes led by existing parents. The Tours conclude with light refreshments and an opportunity to chat to the Principal.
Our next Open Morning is scheduled for Thursday 10 April 2014 9.30am
Dates for the remaining Open Mornings in 2014 are:
Call our School Office on 02 9144 2835 to book yourself into our next Open Morning and Tour of the School.
Information Evenings are presentations by the Principal and Senior Teaching Staff on the philosphy and ethos of the School as well as demonstrations of the Montessori Method in the pre-primary and primary classrooms. Attendance at an Information evening is an essential element of the Enrolment Process.
Very few educational institutions will grant prospective parents free unscripted access to their Graduates, to ask of them any question that they like. Here at Northside Montessori School, we have been holding these events at least annually for over 20 years. Graduates ranging from those in their first few terms in High School through to post-graduate University students introduce themselves and then answer your questions. The only pre-requisite for inclusion on these panels is that all graduates have completed the full 9 year (3-12yrs) Montessori programme and are available on the night.
A Montessori School - Observations
Careful observation of the child is core to the Montessori method and a powerful tool for the teacher and parent in determining how to best foster a child's development. Northside Montessori School adheres to Montessori methodology as it implements and expands on the curriculum of the NSW Board of Studies. Our School participates in Montessori Australia Foundation's Quality Assurance Programme. It is essential therefore, that parents observe in a classroom before their enrolment can be processed and once each year while their child is enrolled at the school. You can book your Observation at an Open Morning or by calling the School Office on 02 9144 2835.
Applications are processed promptly in date order received. Prospective parents will be offered a class observation and interview with the Principal typically during terms two and three of the school year. Waiting lists are maintained for all levels of entry into the school once all places have been offered.
Due to the international make-up of our school community, children occasionally leave the school unexpectedly when their parents are transferred overseas. To take advantage of these opportunities, it is worthwhile placing your child's name on the waiting list even after offers of place have closed for any particular year.
Your child's name can only be placed on the waiting list after an enrolment application has been received and processed and the required observation and interview have been completed.
